We have been working with TurfTrax for a number of years, providing them with all manor of services, including providing dedicated servers for hosting of their racecourse weather station applications and other websites. We also provide them with a bespoke management tool to collect going and weather data from BHA and Weatherbys, monitor this data and provide alerts and messages to racecourse clerks, racehorse owners and trainers.
But the most fun and challenging work we do for TurfTrax is the real time processing of data feeds from their Horse Racing Tracking System. The TurfTrax Tracking System (TTS) is a world leading real time location system, developed for use in the horse racing industry. Its capabilities reach beyond the race track to TV screens, betting shops, online applications and racing professionals.
This year, we were asked by TurfTrax to produce a software applicaiton to take in this feed of tracking data, being pushed to us at a frequency of 4 updates per second per horse, and to monitor and process this data, and provide a stream of useful data back out to the racecourse for display on their 'Big Screens' in real time. This gave the 75,000 punters a unique insight into how the runners and riders fared throughout the race.
Not only was this a challenge in terms of technical difficulty, but also given the tight deadlines imposed on us, we were able to turn this application around for delivery to the racecourse within 2 weeks.
Needless to say, TurfTrax were delighted with the application, as were the thousands of lucky punters who were able to watch stats on the progress of the 33-1 winner, Many Clouds, in real time on the big screens for the first time in racing history.
